Kinder Library is a place for Moms, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas to cozy up
with their little ones and curl up with a book!

Our Library provides an array of children’s story books and contains a wide variety of literature for the enlightenment and enjoyment
of children and their families. Genres range from nursery rhymes and fables to easy-to-read encyclopedias.
A parent resource collection is also available with books on child health and development, parenting and Montessori education.

WHY IS READING TO AND
WITH YOUR CHILDREN IMPORTANT?

  1. Helps children gain new vocabulary.
  2. Helps them learn to speak and communicate.
  3. Helps children express their feelings.
  4. Creates a closer bond between parent and child.
  5. Helps children understand the world around them.
  6. Increases children’s attention span.
  7. Gives many opportunities to ask questions and for critical thinking.
  8. Helps children develop a vivid imagination.
  9. Reading is fun!
  10. It will create a lifetime of a love of reading in the hearts of little ones.

TIPS

  • Have fun and be playful (use different intonations and voices for different characters)
  • Use props (finger puppet or printed images, wear costumes)
  • Ask the children questions about the story and help them summarize the book at the end
  • Choose books that are age appropriate
  • For infants and toddlers, choose books with real-life illustrations or bold colors
  • Make books available at home, and accessible to the children on low shelves
  • Bring books on car trips or even to the doctor’s waiting room
  • Go to the library and have the children decide on a book to read of their own choosing
